THE MODULAR HOME CONSTRUCTION PROCESS IN NORTH CAROLINA (NC) AND VIRGINIA (VA)

When working with a Grade A Builder, the modular home construction process is fast, straightforward, and seamless. Work with an inexperienced, or unreliable builder however, or take on more than you can handle yourself, and the process can quickly become very costly, ugly, and stressful.

As a homebuyer, it really pays to do your research and find a reputable builder who can offer you peace of mind, open communication, years of experience and outstanding build quality.

A typical timeframe for a modular home is between 6 and 14 weeks, which is considerably faster and less expensive than a site-built home equivalent.

The Modular Home Construction Process consist of three main development phases:

PHASE 1: FACTORY CONSTRUCTION

The factory construction phase can take as little as 1-2 weeks for popular designs, but can be considerably prolonged if there are extensive customizations and design changes.

PHASE 2: HOME SITE PREPARATION

The home site preparation phase usually takes between 4 and 6 weeks and is completed at the same time as the factory construction phase, since the one is not dependent on the other (unlike site-built homes). This phase involves securing all the necessary planning and building licenses and permits, land preparation, and the building of the foundation.

PHASE 3: FINAL COMPLETION

The final completion phase, takes place once the modular home has been transported to the home site and has be permanently secured onto the foundation. This usually takes between 4 and 6 weeks and involves: Hooking up the water, electricity and plumbing, as well as completing any outstanding landscaping work.
